Weatherization

Weatherization is a free service to those who qualify. It is a program designed to make homes more energy efficient. The goal is to create an energy efficient environment that not only is conserving energy, but doing so with health and safety being top priority.

Weatherization has been in service since 1976 when the Title IV Energy Conservation and Production Acts were set in place. The weatherization crew has a combined 51 years of service installing weatherization materials, and all of them live in the county they serve.

Here is an example of the types of services that weatherization provides:

  • Testing all the gas fired appliances, repairing them and bringing them up to code. If client owns their home, we will replace furnace or water heater if needed.
  • Insulating sidewalls, attic’s, and insulating floors based on air leakage.
  • Performing pressure diagnostics using a tool called a Blower Door. The Blower Door is used for measuring duct leakage, general air leakage, and testing different zones in the home like the crawlspace or attic.

Weatherization is available to both homeowners and renters. All you need to do is Apply! Here are the income limits by family household size.
